BREAKING: Reports of Active Shooter at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Memphis, Tenn. — SWAT and police departments are responding to an active shooter call at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis on Tuesday.

At this time, there has been no official confirmation that an active shooter incident has occurred, but the hospital has been placed on lockdown. Multiple law enforcement agencies have responded to the scene.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A large law enforcement response remains at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in downtown Memphis on Tuesday following reports of a possible active shooter.

Witnesses reported seeing numerous police vehicles, including SWAT officers, converging on the hospital campus, while access to the facility appeared to be heavily restricted.

One social media user, who identified herself as the mother of a St. Jude employee, described the tense situation in a widely shared post:

“Be careful. St. Jude hospital downtown is on lockdown, and a SWAT team is there. Check on your family now! They are not letting anyone out or in. Employee entrance gates are chained and locked. My daughter works there. Jesus, she had to work today.”

Another witness near the hospital said law enforcement officers quickly secured entrances to the campus as emergency vehicles continued arriving. Several people reported that employees and visitors were unable to enter or leave while police carried out their response.

St. Jude’s campus is a secured medical facility with controlled access for patients, families, employees, and approved visitors, making emergency access restrictions consistent with established security procedures.

Memphis Police Department and Memphis Fire Department are responding to the active shooter situation. The number of injuries or arrests remains unconfirmed.
