Heavy Police Response After Reported Shooting at Yancey Park in Edina

EDINA, Minn. — A large police response was reported Wednesday night following a shooting incident at Yancey Park in Edina.

According to initial reports, officers were dispatched to the 5500 block of Hansen Road, near Yancey Park, after multiple callers reported hearing gunfire. One nearby resident reported hearing more than 20 gunshots erupt from the park, prompting a rapid response from several law enforcement agencies.

Witnesses at the scene said both Edina Police and Bloomington Police responded to the incident. As officers worked to secure the area, residents nearby were instructed to immediately return to their homes for their safety.

According to information shared by individuals at the scene, there was reportedly a gathering of **more than 50 Somali youths, including both boys and girls**, at Yancey Park when the gunfire broke out. It remains unclear whether anyone was struck by the gunfire or if any arrests have been made.
